Freo has to be one of my favourite places to go and too hang out in. The Freo train station is heritage listed, and a place of history and also personal experience. I remember as a kid, paying at the window for a ticket to get on the train, it was wonderful and yet very retro to other’s of younger generations. Mum always tried to get my little brother and I to do things for ourselves, that included getting our train tickets. It is sad that we no longer use these windows, that they have been replaced with automatic machines now.

As I wait at the station, there is a hub of activity as people hurry to catch the train and the hum of the waiting train. It really makes me feel very nostalgic for the past, and my fleeting childhood is long gone. School holidays are time to take day trips and train rides. It is also fun to people watch and make up stories of where these people you see in the station may be going ?

After a day out, it is also wonderful to know your journey home is almost at an end. Today no trip on the train, but may be again real soon.
