80’s girl

Today I got my nails done fluro pink, or what some people call hot pink. I went with my bestie, who egged me on to get them painted that colour, and I absolutely adore them. They remind me of my fluro pink socks I had, back when I was 10 years old, along with the jelly shoes I wore with them.

It is so funny how memories can be attached to a colour or smell and before you know it, everything comes rushing back. Fluro pink is one such colour in my memory bank, being 1984 it was right into those bright colours you needed Ray Ban sunglasses to look at them with.

My favourite colour was pink for an awfully long time, and so lucky my Mum talked me out of having it on my walls and carpet. Imagine how bright my bedroom would of been. In 1984 everything was bigger and brighter than anything, except maybe the 1970’s where everything was very kitsch indeed. Hot pink was definitely a colour that took over 1980’s what with Barbie dolls and Madonna.

It was the kind of memory I just had to write up on my blog. I did not want to lose it on forget it, because that would of been tragic indeed. I want to capture as many memories as I can of my life and my childhood. Those were days I remember with fondness and nostalgia.

I even had a strawberry thickshake at Maccas to that was the same vivid pink colour. So I guess I was on a roll, we certainly had a good laugh about it.

The following photos, I got from a free library and just love, how as a montage they look so good together. Let me know if you have a childhood colour or memory with it ?

Robin’s Egg Blue – aka as Tiffany Blue. It is my absolute favorite color and I must say it is becoming an all encompassing color for me. I remember my first ‘thing’ with this color – a camisole leotard from Capezio when I was in grade school. I was in heaven! and now, well, let’s just say Tiffany’s is my favorite store and the color is without a doubt my signature color!
